Winter Season

During the winter season, the Heritage Center is open for self-guided tours. We invite a suggested donation of $15.00 to support our year-round statewide cultural programming.

Your donation helps sustain Master Artist classes, internships, apprenticeships, workforce development, and culturally grounded healing services.

What to Experience

Six Village Sites

Walk life-sized traditional dwellings representing Alaska Native cultural regions — the Athabascan, Yup'ik, Cup'ik, Aleut/Unangan, Alutiiq, Eyak, Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, Inupiaq, and St. Lawrence Island Yupik peoples.

Live Cultural Demonstrations

Daily dance performances, artist demonstrations, storytelling, and Alaska Native Games on the Gathering Place stage.

Theater & Hall of Cultures

Short films and documentaries in the Theater. Dynamic exhibits in the Hall of Cultures explore the traditions and history of Alaska's Native peoples.

Ch'k'iqadi Gallery

Shop for authentic Alaska Native art, jewelry, apparel, and gifts from talented artists representing all regions and cultures of Alaska.

Healing Garden

Explore the first monument in our Healing Garden — a space for reflection, connection, and the ongoing healing journey of Alaska Native communities.

Free Summer Shuttle

Complimentary round-trip shuttle from downtown Anchorage (W 4th Ave & E St) and midtown hotels. Runs June 1 – Sept 13, 2026.

Take Glenn Hwy north, exit at Muldoon Rd, left on North Muldoon, cross bridge, first right on Golden Bear Dr, then Heritage Center Dr.

Taxi / Rideshare

~10 min from downtown. Alaska Yellow Dispatch, Lyft (both ways). Uber drop-off only. Give exact address to avoid misdirection.

Bus

~20 min from Downtown Transit Center to Muldoon & Heritage Ctr stop, then a 20-min walk down Heritage Center Dr.
