Cultural Tourism.
Rooted in Our Ways of Life.
"Cultural tourism is perpetuating our ways of life; it's healing; language revitalization; it is the accurate telling of Alaska Native history; it's our youth knowing they are part of a community that is living and vibrant, with a robust future."
Our Philosophy
Cultural Tourism Is More Than Sightseeing
At ANHC, cultural tourism is not performance — it is the authentic expression of living cultures. Every visitor experience is grounded in the traditions, knowledge, and ways of life that Alaska Native peoples have carried for thousands of years.
ANHC leads the way for cultural tourism in Alaska. Our approach is community-centered, Elder-guided, and rooted in genuine respect for Alaska Native sovereignty and self-determination.
When you visit ANHC, you're not a spectator of history. You're a participant in a living conversation — one that has been happening for tens of thousands of years and will continue long after your visit.
Plan Your Visit →It Is Not Performance
Cultural educators share their own traditions — not a show created for outsiders. Everything you experience is grounded in genuine living culture.
It Is Community-Centered
Every program is designed with and by Alaska Native community members. Revenue from tourism directly supports artists, Elders, and cultural preservation.
It Is Historically Honest
ANHC does not sanitize or romanticize Alaska Native history. We engage with the truth — including the impacts of colonization, boarding schools, and cultural loss.
It Is Future-Focused
The goal of cultural tourism at ANHC is a thriving future for Alaska Native peoples — not a museum of the past. Culture is alive, and so are we.
